I would be lying if I said this book really hit home or brought me to any life-altering realizations. However, I did spend valuable breathing minutes that I will likely never get back reading it. That being said, I have found that completion very often acts as a catalyst to my digging out some sort of value that a book, event, or experience, may bring to myself and, here's hoping, others.
"They're not love letters in the strictest sense of the word. My letters are for when I don't want to be in love anymore. They're for good-bye. Because after I write my letter, I'm no longer consumed by my all-consuming love. I can eat my cereal and not wonder if he likes bananas over his cheerios; I can sing along to love songs and not be signing them to him."

"I'm always wondering about the what-ifs, about the road not taken."
***
"... I suppose in matters of the heart, there's no predicting how a person will or won't behave."
***
"Chris and I understand each other, which I think counts more than people realize."
My question to you: do you have a place where you feel completely understood? It might be a more difficult question to answer than you'd expect. I'd to love to hear about your answers !!

"A hundred years ago eighteen-year-old guys were out there fighting wars with bayonets and holding a man's life in their hands! They lived a lot of life by the time they were our age."
***
"When someone's been gone a long time, at first you save up all the things you want to tell them .... but it's like trying to hold on to a fistful of sand: all the little bits slip out of your hands, and then you're just clutching air and grit."
